I programmi di apprendistato nell’UE e gli SDGs

An apprenticeship programme, according to the European Framework for Education, Training and Youth Policy, is a work-based learning programme that combines practical on-the-job training with classroom instruction. It is designed to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform a particular job or trade.

In the European Union, there are two types of apprenticeship programmes:

  1. School-based apprenticeships: These programmes are typically aimed at students aged 15-19 who are enrolled in vocational schools or other educational institutions. They provide a mix of classroom instruction and practical training in a workshop or other work environment.
  2. Dual apprenticeships: These programmes are aimed at individuals aged 16-25 who are seeking employment in a particular trade or profession. They combine on-the-job training with classroom instruction and are typically offered by employers.

Both types of apprenticeship programmes are designed to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the workforce and contribute to the economy. They are a valuable tool for reducing youth unemployment, improving skills levels and promoting economic growth.

This Erasmus+ project “Sustainable apprentices – Training the workforce of the future to implement the SDGs in SMEs through apprenticeship programmes” aims at contributing to apprenticeship programmes in the EU in several ways:

  1. It can promote the integration of sustainable development goals (SDGs) into apprenticeship programmes, thereby equipping apprentices with the knowledge and skills to contribute to a sustainable future.
  2. It can help to identify and promote best practices in sustainable apprenticeship programmes, which can serve as models for other programmes across the EU.
  3. The project can facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise between different countries and stakeholders involved in apprenticeship programmes, helping to build a stronger network of apprenticeship providers and practitioners.
  4. By focusing on SMEs, the project can help to address the specific challenges and opportunities faced by smaller businesses in implementing apprenticeship programmes and contributing to sustainable development.
  5. The project can also raise awareness among employers, apprentices, and policymakers about the benefits of sustainable apprenticeship programmes, including improved productivity, job satisfaction, and social and environmental impact.

Sustainable Apprentices can contribute to the development of high-quality, sustainable apprenticeship programmes that can support the needs of learners, businesses, and society as a whole.
